usb data card query

hello,
I have a netgear data card ac327u that I use as a standby connection from a different ISP.

I have never used 3g wireless before as I had 2 wired broadband connections...its necessary for my work as a stock market trader.

what I want to know is if I can just leave the netgear dongle in the usb port of my desktop all the time coz that's all I need it for.

is there a risk of damaging it or s/w becoming corrupt with start up/ shut down etc...?

btw..I have checked that it does not heat at all even after hours of use.

No. it won't damage your laptop. you can even work for hours/days.
only thing is, it will drain your laptop battery higher.

thanx for your reply...I was asking if I could keep the netgear dongle plugged in 24/7 as I use it on my desktop as a standby solution and I don't need portability.

also..if you are using the netgear dongle, can you tell me why the s/w broadband genie takes so long to respond...I mean I have to click on an option and wait some time for it to respond...even opening the application...connect...disconnect takes time...other than that it works fine.

Yes. you can also use the dongle in your desktop for longer time. no problem with it.

im not much familiar about netgear software. i personally use huawei dongle. but If you know all your configuration settings,
i suggest you to re-download & install a latest version of netgear genie software. from its official site. it may solve the problem.
