Usb device not recocnized by windows

When I unplugged my mouse from my laptop to use it on my desktop. I got a popup saying that windows doesn't recocnize the usb device. I plugged it back to my laptop and it said the same. Can I just assume that my mouse is broken? My mouse is razer naga 2014.

Shut both computers down. Insert the receiver into each and restart. Any messages pop up then? (Don't mind me using the word receiver - I use that term for both wired and wireless mice.) I guess I should say "plug in the USB male portion of the device.
