Hey guys!
OK, totally new build, all new parts:
Phanteks Enthoo Elite
ASUS Maximus IX Formula
i7 7700K
CRYORIG R1 Universal
etc.
Booting-up for the first time, everything seems normal, all fans spin-up, lights, RGB etc. When I get to the "American Megatrends" splash screen, I get:
CPU Fan speed error detected
Ensure that the CPU fan is properly installed on the CPU_FAN header
or adjust/disable the Fan Speed Low Limit option the UEFI BIOS.
USB Device Over Current Status Detected !!
System Will Shut Down After 15 Seconds.
1. So, for the Fan Speed error, I'm assuming I can just do as the message suggests and go into the BIOS and adjust or disable the Fan Low Limit? The CPU cooler's fans are spinning just fine, so I'm fairly certain it's connected correctly. Just asking in case there's something else I should consider or if I'm missing something.
On to the big issue:
2. Regarding the USB Over Current error: I've isolated the culprit to be the "USB 3.1 Type C" USB. When I disconnect the connector from the mobo's header, the issue goes away. Checking the web, the error seems to generally be caused by a physical short. Less frequently, a BIOS update rectifies the problem. Ive examined the USB connector, header & port with a magnifying glass, and they physically look fine, nothing bent, HOWEVER, you can see (in the pic) how the port looks vertically out-of-center, and is touching the face plate at the bottom (which is metal). Could this be causing a short? Don't know if the actual metal "female" part of the port itself conducts or shields current?
Thanks in advance!
