USB device plugged into front panel connector shuts off computer

Whenever I plug something into either of the two front usb ports the computer powers off. All the rest of the USB ports work fine.

I have never seen this happen before, what could be the problem?

Sounds like a build error. Try seeing if the USB header is properly installed.

Agree with basroil. I had a similar problem one time. It was a short circuit due to a damaged port.
