USB devices not working

I've just connected an ssd that has windows 7 sp1 in it, but once I get in to the "please wait" screen, my keyboard and mouse becomes inactive for some reason(both usb). The keyboard and mouse works in the BIOS though (msi z97s krait motherboard). Can someone tell me what's the problem here and how to fix it?

Go into your bios by pressing either the del key at power on, or its f2 depending on your computer model.

Locate the "USB legacy support" in the bios, and enable it
Save settings and exit

I enabled it but it still wont work

Basically it could have been a faulty windows 7 update that disabled your devices. Get a ps/2 keyboard and mouse to uninstall update KB2887069

Edit: You are probably better off reinstalling windows
