Solution

There is software out there that recovers data after you have formatted you USB stick, so just go ahead and format it then use the software.

Hit cancel, try something like Recuva to get the files off the drive.

Software is pretty much your only solution here. Best of luck, whether you're successful at getting your files back or not, I strongly urge you to have backup plan that ensures that if a hard drive or flash drive crash, you don't lose valuable files forever. It doesn't have to be a fancy RAID solution, it could be something as simple as burning your most crucial files to a DVD and storing it in a safe, cool location.

No. And the more you screw with it, the less likely you are able to get anything off it.

I don't like you -.-

Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I just call 'em like I see 'em.

He's absolutely correct, however. When any kind of file storage crashes on you, you're fortunate to get anything off it at all. Right now, your best option is to count your blessings that something's recoverable and save as much as you can, while you can. If you're going to be angry with someone, be angry at yourself - if these particular files are that important to you that losing them distresses you, they were important enough to responsibly back up.
