Usb drive deleted

So I have an issue with my usb. It was in my computer yesterday. I ran windows updates on my laptop. After it was all done, I tried accessing my files on the usb and it asked me to format it! I didn't... But now I can't get any of my files. What can I do?

These USB drives do go bad sometimes.

I would take it out of the laptop, and try it on another computer. If you can't get the data off, you can use the software Recuva which sometimes works.

Yeah I tried both of those. I downloadec the software and it just gave errors. I'm running ICare data recovery and hoping that will allow me to recover the files

Sure, give it a shot. However, in most cases, the drive is just dead in my experience. These flash drives only last 2-3 years with regular use, and can go even sooner for no apparent reason sometimes.
