Wasnt too sure were to post this but basically I heard that when recording pc game footage with software such as dxtory its a good idea to record to a drive other than your main drive. So I was wondering if there are any usb 3.0 usb drives that would do the job at a fast write speed (enough for 720p footage) preferably a 32GB or 64GB stick

Solution
Yes it is true that recording video to the same drive that the game is stored on, will have a greater impact on performance.

I assume you have already tried it and know that 64GB will be sufficient for the videos you intend to record.

In that case just get a USB3 stick that touts a high read/write speed. However it will not reach that speed if you use it on an USB2.0 port or if your motherboard does not support USB3.0

If you need more space just get a high performance external drive.
