USB drive not showing in file explorer! PLEASE HELP!

Solution
I once had a SanDisk cruzer micro which once did exactly what yours is doing now. On one system it would show up in file explorer and the other not. Eventually it stopped working on any systems.

I should have mentioned this firstly....before you do anything else I would make a backup of any important data you have stored on it.

Then you could delete and reformat the drive... that is if you dont want it as it was when you first bought it.. with its mini OS.

Hi there.

A few questions for you...

Should there be any data on the drive?

Does it show in file explorer on a different PC?

How many Hard Drives do you have in your PC?

It seems to me that if you only have 1 Hard Drive in your system that the USB drive is showing in Disk Management as DISK1

You may just need to add a drive letter to DISK 1. You can do this by Right Clicking on DISK 1 and Adding a Drive Letter)

However if there should be some data on the drive do not format or change the type of drive it is. Just add a drive letter. F, G, or H, would be good options but it does not really matter so long as its different to any other drive letters you already have.

Hope this helps.

:)

If its the first time you are using this USB drive I think that you will just need to add a drive letter and format it. NTFS with default file allocation may be a good choice. Depending on what you want to use it for.

Yes this drive has data on it.

Yes it shows in the file explorer of my moms laptop.

I have only 1 hdd in my pc.

I've tried right clicking on disk 1, but there is no option to add a letter to the drive and I can't right click on the empty space next to it.. This is all I see when I right click it.

Is your Mom's laptop the same operating system as yours? What file system is the drive using when its plugged in to your Moms laptop?

Do you have any other USB drives which you could test in your system to check if it sees them correctly?

Is this the first time you have used this particular USB drive on your system?

Sometimes the Sandisk USB drives use a built in operating system and data encryption.
