I have a usb drive -64GB-I don't pretend to fully understand these things.Somehow it is now write-protected-I had to ask a friend what this means.I asked how to turn it off although I don't know how it was turned on in the first place. His suggestions involved a complicated procedure requiring the installation of a new O/S then disabling the installation using the USB-I think?I didn't understand-not even when he explained it twice.I looked at the properties of the USB but couldn't figure out how to turn off writr-protection-I simply want to delete the USB.I didn't know there was such a thing as write-protection or how to choose it if I wanted it.I'm hoping someone can tell me how to solve this problem or I may as well just throw the thing away. Please Help!

Solution
USB normally only go read only if set by an app or if it detects a hardwrae issue and doe sit to protect data.

What model and have you tried any utilities form the manufacturer or even think about RMA.
