Hi,

So ive two machines here, an asusx550c that im trying to get running with fresh version of win 7 and a sony viao thats working fine.
One harddrive with a fresh install of win 7. No other drivers installed, just 7 from a usb.
Put the hd into the asus, wont read usb, was reading them on win 8 before hand.
Put same hd into sony and it reads usb without any other drivers installed.
Ive put the asus usb drivers onto the hd via the viao and then put it back into the asus and installed then but still no good.?
Whats could the problem be.?
How does the viao run without drivers.?
I also have no network drivers on asus so its really annoying having to keep swapping the drive to get anything onto the hd to then reopen in the asus..

Any help appreciated, 2 days in and getting frustrated..

Thanks

which USB slot you using on the Asus? its got 1 USB slot which I assume is 2.0 and a USB 3 slot. I could guess the vaio has USB 2 slots.

Win 7 knows what USB 2 is without drivers, it has no idea about USB 3 though. its why you have to install it through a USB 2 slot.

I can't find a x550c, just an x550ca and these are its drivers: https://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/516/0/5/iDj76sQprYFuQe5J/30/
