Usb Extension On Mouse

Hi, so I am considering purchasing a Gigabyte GM-M6800 mouse for my soon to be gaming pc (due to its affordability and reviews). An issue I cam up with whilst reading through reviews was that the cable was too short for most people. I measured how much cable I would need and I am short about 2 feet. So I was wondering if purchasing a Usb extension cable for a gaming oriented mouse would effect its performance in any way. If so, any recomendations on what to do or what mouse to get in a $15 price range that is optimized for gaming and has a dpi button.

Not too many options there, lol. The thing is, im looking for a mouse that is wired and doesnt have all those flashy lights. Limits my options, unfortunaley, but the GM-M6800 fits them perfectly (except for the cable length of course). Thanks though!
