USB Flash Drive not recognised

My PC will not recognise my flash drive unless I uninstall the driver then plug the flash drive back in. There is a beep signalling the PC realises I've plugged something in but it doesn't appear in "My Computer" unless I got to My Computer > Manage > Devise Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controller and uninstall " Mass Storage Device " (My flash drive) and then unplug and plug it back in, at which point the driver is resinstalled.
I'm using windows 7 ultimate

what are your pc specs aswell?

Yes, but once I remove the flash drive and plug it back in I have to repeat the process

OK try safely removing your storage devise before you unplug have you tried it with a different USB flash drive or port?

Yes, I've tried that and also tried new flash drives in all the different ports.
All other USB devices I try such as my portable HDD and phone work it is just flash drives that do not.
