[SOLVED] USB Flash Drives & Linux Compatibility

I am getting a USB flash drive to put files in that I want to save/backup and transfer to a Linux machine from a PC I have that is currently running on Windows 10.

Question: do I need to worry about whether a USB drive is compatible with Linux? Or with a specific variety of Linux (Ubuntu, Mint, whatever)?

I ask because I noticed some USB drive brands are advertised as working with Linux, and others aren't..

Just have to use a file format acceptable to both OS.

I have never came across a usb flash card reader not working on Linux.

There have being cases where SD cards haven't showed up in Linux (usually appear as new desktop link), but all those has turned out being the card reader being too old for the SD card.

To be sure it will work - keep the flash drive formatted as FAT32 or exFAT (for very large files). Most recent Linux distros have no troubles with NTFS-formatted partitions, either.
