Question USB front panel

Does a CPU need to be in your PC for the USB’s on the case to work or should they work without it just wondering as I’ve not got my CPU yet and not sure if my USB front panels broke

As far as I know, the front panel USB ports will not work unless the PC is turned on and you can't really turn it on without a CPU installed.

The PC turns on but obviously nothing much happens all that happens with me is my LEDS turn on and GPU and stuff but even the power button LED doesn’t turn on

I suspect that the boot process is halted for no cpu, which would happen before the step where it initializes any periphials like the usb controller.

Without a cpu and a cooler, nothing is going to work.
The front panel usb ports will work when the front panel connectors are plugged into the motherboard.

As a practical matter, I find it best to test out everything outside of the case before installing it into the case.

None of my USB ports work even the one on the motherboard without the CPU

Nothing is going to show any function without a processor present.
