I bought a new F.R.E.Q 4D Gaming headset, it uses a USB port but when I plug it into my PC nothing happens and my PC doesn't even detect a USB has be put in. I am running Windows 7 64bit. I have followed all instructions that came with the headset and still nothing.

Does anything show up in the device manager?

hit start and type device manager and hit enter.
Select Sound, video and game controllers
Do you see F.R.E.Q listed?
If so hit start and type sound and select Sound
Now look for your headset, if you see it, right click and make it the default device. You should do the same on the recording tab as well.

It's possible Windows isn't downloading/installing the driver automatically, possibly because the headset is now. Usually, the product website will allow a manual driver install program, which you can try, or a CD/DVD with a driver package on it.

It's also possible you need to run Windows update for the driver package to auto-install.

The only other thing I can think of is try a different USB port; it's possible you're drawing too much power from a single hub with the headset plugged in.

I plugged my headset into my old pc running windows vista and it came up, sound worked and the drivers were auto installed so i don't understand it

Yeah USB soundcards(like the one in your headset) should have build in drivers for most current operating systems.

If your system has USB 3.0 ports and 2.0 ports, try each to see if one works. My HD PVR did not seem to work on USB 3.0 ports despite the backwards compatibility that us supposed to be built in.
