[SOLVED] USB Issue

I'm running an Advantech PCI-7020 industrial computer. If I connect a keyboard straight into the USB connector it is not recognized. Connecting it through a NON-POWERED USB hub causes the system to recognize it. What is the difference? Usually it would go the other way...
I should mention : The machine is running NetBSD.

Ok, so then it is not a USB/BIOS related issue. But I'm not familiar to NetBSD, you may opt for an bsd forum, or file a bug repport on this.

that's weird. Is there any bios settings that may explain it?

And - are the machine able to use the keyboard before the OS loads (i.e. can you use the keyboard to enter bios settings) ?
Yes. I can enter and manipulate the BIOS with or without the USB hub. And yes - it is weird.
Straight connection works on other models of the industrial.

Okay. I was hoping some BIOS setting would solve the issue but yes: I may have to code a driver to make it visible to the NetBSD. Thank you everyone for the efforts. And a very Merry Christmas to all!
