Hey there! I recently installed an Nvidia/Quadro k5200 8GB GDDR5 2x DVI 2x Display Port to my custom-built PC at my home officem replacing an Nvidia GEForce GTX 1060, 3GB DDR5 DirectX 12. My PC setup includes four 25" monitors, perfect for my graphics and video work. Before the upgrade everything worked fine but I needed more graphics power.

However, I've been experiencing an issue. While working on video creation or simply displaying it on one of the screens, my mouse cursor disappears, and the keyboard becomes unresponsive (Logitech K360 keyboard, M720 mouse. After a couple of minutes, they start working again. To keep going, I've connected a corded mouse and keyboard, but this problem causes significant delays. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

I would imagine this issue has more to do with CPU (over) utilization rather than the graphics card. In other words, the new load to the CPU due to the ability of the new card is causing shortfalls that you are experiencing in lag on the keyboard and mouse.

You could attempt to keep an eye on Task Manager as you load the GPU and see if that is the situation.

Hi punkncat, thank you for your reply.

After playing with the Nvidia Control Panel, which is extensive compared with the one provided for gaming cards, I found a setting called Manage GPU utilization. The options there are 1-Dedicate to graphics tasks and 2-Use for Graphics and Compute needs. I selected option 1- Dedicate to graphics tasks because after asking ChatGPT about this setting, I got the following:

If you set your Nvidia/Quadro k5200 GPU to be dedicated for graphics tasks only, the rest of your PC will still work normally. While the Quadro k5200 is optimized for graphics-intensive workloads, it does not impact the functionality of other components in your computer.

By designating the Quadro k5200 for graphics tasks, you are essentially assigning it as the primary GPU responsible for handling graphics-related operations such as video rendering, 3D modeling, and image processing. This allows the GPU to fully utilize its capabilities and deliver optimal performance for graphics-intensive applications.

The other components of your PC, such as the CPU, RAM, storage, and peripherals, will continue to function independently of the GPU and perform their respective tasks. So, you can still use your computer for everyday tasks like web browsing, office work, and general computing while the Quadro k5200 focuses on graphics-related workloads.

So far, the issue did now show up, even when working with graphics and videos at the same time.
