USB keyboard stops working during boot

So earlier on today I managed to get my PC stuck on "scanning and repairing" during startup.
Oh well, not a big deal, hard restart the PC and I get the option to skip the scan by pressing any key.

My problem is that you only have a 1 second window in which to press a key, and my keyboard conveniently stops responding during that time.
It works fine before, in BIOS, and immediately afterwards, but not when I need it.

I've tried every USB port on my mobo, and also tried unplugging any other USB devices, leaving only the keyboard.
I do have a PS2 port, but unfortunately without a PS2 keyboard it isn't much use.

Right now I'm stuck.
Is my only option right now to borrow a PS2 keyboard from somewhere and try that, or is there anything else I can try with the USB one?

The mobo is a Gigabyte GA-Z87N-WIFI, and the keyboard a Logitech G110.

There are USB to PS2 converters you can buy from local store for $5, at least in my local pc store, not sure about yours. But it's kinda normal that all the ports are disabled during boot. Try going to BIOs and set the USB devices enabled setting to all, mine is on partial for a bit faster boot, but if it is on all, it'll be a bit slower, I'm not sure how much slower though. Also, have you ever had a power surge before? If so, it could have damaged the USB ports, which was what happened to my old pc.

The USB ports are disabled during boot/start up. I'm not sure if there's a way around this though. Then again, it may be a problem with the keyboard, or as Lone said, a power surge may have damaged your USB ports. Any case, try the keyboard on another PC to make sure it is working properly, and maybe take your PC to be examined(The USB ports)
