USB mass storage device not recognized by the recovery programs

When I try to access my USB mass storage device, I have this message: "You need to format the disk drive before you can use it". I tried to recover it with both Find and Mount and Easy US Data Recovery, but none of them seems to recognize it. It simply doesn't show on the interface. It shows in My Computer, but when I try to open it, it says: "Please insert a disk into Removable Disk F".
Any one can help me with a solution?

If you need Data Try Recuva , it helps but generally the more older the data the less chances to recover with it.

Thanks for your answer. I tried Recuva too, but it gives me this message: "The request could not be performed because of an I/0 device error". Does it mean that my data can't be recuperated? The files on my device were no older than 3 months.
The problem is that, in the Properties, it shows that Free Space and Used Space are both 0 bytes...

Try Booting with Linux and see there , does it show correct amount of free space and occupied space.
