Hi everyone,

I was trying to view the files on my memory stick (In Linux where I have only used it) and it did not work and I got a strange error message saying:

"The folder contents could not be displayed. Sorry, could not display all the contents of "[USB stick name]": Error when getting information for file "/media/...": Input/output error".

I would like to attach an image on here but not sure how best to do so?

The memory stick was working fine the day before and today suddenly stopped. I tried restarting my computer and still the same result.

Any advice much appreciated! D

More information needed.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Make and model memory stick? Capacity? How full?

Just to be sure that I understand correctly: the "memory stick" in question is actually a 64 GB Samsung BAR USB drive containing 1 folder - correct?

Two immediate observations:

1) The first imgur image shows a small padlock on Folder 163E-93's icon.

That would indicate that the USB drive/folder has been locked in some manner. Perhaps by too many failed attempts to access the data.

2) The second imgur image indicates that the USB drive is 90% full with the subject folder using 2.1 GB or 3% of the USB drive's used capacity.

The USB drive may have become corrupted as a result. A drive near or at full capacity is going to impact host system performance and may become problematic. Especially if there are any corrupted sectors etc. to begin with.

That all said, I will need to defer to those who have more knowledge and experience regarding USB drives in a Linux environment.
