I have a Badaax UM600 usb mic. I have been trying to get it to work. I was completely unable to use it on win7 and I just upgraded to win 8.1 Pro. I was able to use it perfectly fine with Audacity. Six hours later, I tried to use it again, and the computer would not even recognize that anything was connected to the USB ports. I tried both ports, unplugging and replugging it back in. I have tried to troubleshoot it, and windows says the drivers weren't installed properly. I followed troubleshooting steps, and that came up with a failure to install properly. I can't figure out what is wrong. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Solution
Try removing the drivers entirely and reinstalling the latest software from the manufacturer. Also when downloading the software make sure that you get the correct version, some 32-bit software won't install correctly on a 64bit operating system etc... and you need to make sure that you have the windows 8 software as well, this can also cause installation errors.
