Hi,

Can someone explain or help USB 4G/3G mobile internet stick interruption on routers’s USB port?
Which brand/type/model can do that? How can i recognise from the routers specification this function?

I need a router with DDWRT for 4G/3G mobile internet stick with that function for interrupting mobile stick because of the ISP!

thx.

You will find although it sounds like a simple question it actually extremely complex.

Many tplink and asus router support many 3g/4g usb modems. DD-WRT has the most extensive list.

The huge problem is nobody want to standardize this, everyone is doing their own thing. Even exactly the same hardware say from huawei is supported it may only work from certain ISP. Some ISP refuse to release the information to allow the router to log into the network.

So when you go though the lists of supported modems you must match both the hardware and the ISP to really be sure. Also you really need to know what frequencies the ISP is transmitting on in your area so you get the correct modem. Does not do a lot of good to get a modem that will work on your router with the ISP but the ISP is using a different frequency range where you live.

If you can't find a router that supports your hardware/isp you can look at cradepoint brand routers. These guys were some of the first to have router that can do this and they seem to be able to get drivers for devices nobody else has. Unfortunately these routers are targeted at business and have lots of features you do not need but will have to pay for anyway.
