Hello everyone

I'm currently having a bit of bother with my son's workstation it's a hp z600

Yesterday it was fine then today he switched it on and said the mouse and keyboard don't work!

The mouse is dead as in no power, it's the same with the keyboard. They both work on another computer.

When you switch the machine on the mouse lights up and the num lock button lights up on the keyboard. I can enter the bios and navigate around it using the keyboard.

They both work right upto the point the system starts to boot, the windows logo appears then a few seconds later the mouse and keyboard go dead.

Tried safe mode and it's the same. Although the keyboard works in the startup and repair menu.

Has anybody ever had this problem with windows before please?

I tried everything. New mouse/keyboard... Safe mode, system restore everything that was suggested in the links. Thanks for those. But they just wouldn't work. I cloned the drive to a external so we could save any important bits and refreshed windows and they still wouldn't work! When windows booted up? Clean install and everything is working again. Maybe some sort of virus/malware who knows.

Thanks.
