Hi guys I recently replaced my usb wired mouse because it kept disconnecting, but since doing this the new mouse doesn't work. It seemed to work until Windows 7 automatically installed driver so the whole 5 seconds. I've tried deleting the hid components and the mouse in device manager but in reinstalls itself and doesn't work again. I've reset bios and changed legacy settings and still nothing. Tried another usb port and even tried the new mouse in another computer and the mouse's worked in that comp. I did a system repair and it worked while I chose my options and then once Windows started up it was ok until the drivers installed again. Car do a system restore because I having got a later point to choose.

Is it installing the latest driver? Did the mouse come with CD with their drivers on it? You said that you tried other ports but you didnt say weather it worked on those ports. I would assume not or you wouldnt be asking on here lol.

every once in a while I get a machine that won't let a mouse work. for some reason it needs a microsoft mouse....... sound odd huh?......... take your other mouse and plug it into the "bad" computer. boot to desktop. when there disconnect the "good" mouse and plug the "bad" mouse in. let windows find it. should work, yes? reboot and see if it works.,

Yea the mouse didn't work in other ports lol. Also didn't come with cd, unfortunately I threw the old mouse as I thought it wasn't working ...doh! I know. Dont have a ps2 to usb either. It's just weird that when I was in repair options it worked but as soon as got to desktop it just stopped working as soon as it came up with installing new hardware. Also doesn't work in safe mode.

to keep windows from sel installing you need to disable widows auto updates and auto driver updates ( google those ) ( 2 separate things ).

there's nothing wrong with the mouse. the board doesn't see it. you need to do what I suggested above.

plug another mouse in. boot with it. after boot hook up the other mouse.
