USB mystery functions

So I have a portable USB hub(1x4) when connected to board socket (back panel) and I do connect like mouse;keyboard,say USB Wi-Fi or Bluetooth; simple devices like that it fails after some time.Power blacked out of keyboard/mouse or USBI/Os but the same socket works for 1-2-3TB external,portable, HDDs.SO this hub draws more power than HDs;hard to believe.

It may be reading those drives, try writing some data and report back.

Is the hub powered or not, if you plug in a lot of devices especially power hungry ones it will fail as the load will be extreme. Powered hubs are pretty cheap and allow you to run any devices you like off it!
