USB Network Adapter Issues

So I had a TP Link N600 USB Network Adapter that worked fine for a couple of years. Then, suddenly, it stopped working. Just all of a sudden, I had no WiFi at all. After some reboots and such, I managed to get it to work, only for it to fail again. When it did work, it didn't seem as good as it was before. Eventually, it just went haywire. It would enable itself, try to connect, fail, then disable itself, and that cycle would repeat itself indefinitely. I decided it was likely the adapter and went out to get a new one.

I ended up with a Linksys N600. Plugged it in, installed the software, good to go. Except my network speed was much worse. With this one, I'm averaging about 70Mbps whereas my old adapter would average >100Mbps. For reference, my phone was getting 30-40Mbps higher than my PC was. I figure it's likely the adapter just isn't good, which is fine, I can return it and buy a new one. Except that when I restarted my computer, this adapter did the same thing and didn't immediately power itself on. After I unplugged it and plugged it back in, it connected as I expected. However, it seems strange that it would do this and too similar to be a coincidence.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on and how I should fix it? Also, if I'm in the neighbourhood for a reasonably priced USB Network Adapter, does anyone have suggestions?
