Hi there,
I have two Kinect for windows and they both work fine plugged in too the USB 2.0 slot.
But when I add a USB 2.0 extender on each Kinect I get "Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).
Ive tried manually setting the Drivers but couldn't find them...
Its a passive USB extender but its only 5 meters so surely it wont need any more power.
(Also the Kinect is plugged in on both)
Any help is appreciated!

Hi there,
Yes i did resolve the problem.
If your plugging a kinect into it, it needs all the buses which means you can't use a USB hub to power it.
You can either look into a "Active USB Extender" or buy one of these " http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Extension-Cable-For-Xbox-360-Kinect-Sensor-3-Meters-/131190652943?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 "
If your not plugging a kinect in then get a USB powered hub, as this solved the problem for me.
It gave all the devices extra strength to get across the cable as the computer cant provide it.

Best regards,
Hjgrove

P.S Its caused by the response time of the USB cable dropping too much that the usb controller...
Update: Shortned the extenders from two 5 Meters too one 5 meters.
One Kinect is saying "Device cannot start" and the other recognises and say "No drivers installed" for about 2 seconds then refreshes itself...
Can ANYONE help!?!?!

Update: Turns out usb 2.0 didn't work at all, where as the USB 3.0 port supplied more power and was able to identify the device (But still not enough power).
Looks like I need a active extender or a repeater...
