USB not working on Windows 8.1

Hello, my issue is that my sandisk usb drive is not recognized on my computer, widows 8.1. I've tried uninstalling it as well as uninstalling all of the universal serial bus controllers, and after a reboot they still do not work. I know the usb and usb ports still work because they work fine when I boot up ubuntu on the same machine. What am I missing here?

It looks like your USB flash drive has failed. Try it on another computer.

You can try to reformat the drive.

You need to go to Disk Management and see whether the flash drive has a letter assigned. If not, you can assign one.
Also, you can check whether it has healthy partitions as well as file system. You may need to reformat it.
If the drive is not recognized by Disk Management(not recognized on another computer as well), then it has most probably failed.
