Hi, 6 months ago I built a PC for a friend of mine who is now experiencing a USB Overcurrent issue. Interestingly the fault is intermittent, times it will start with no issue and will continue to run for days until shutdown and other times it just wont start. I carried out the usual checks, inspected and cleared all usb points, unplugged the front case usb connectors from the main board, removed the metal plate from the rear of the case for the motherboard I/O panel, disconnected all cables excluding the digital video cable from the graphics card and the fault still intermittently occurs. I contacted my parts supplier and we replaced the motherboard and the fault still occurs. I'm starting to think that perhaps the PSU maybe faulty as I have run out of options. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

System Details:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with Wraith Stealth Cooler
Mothboard: MSI X570-A Pro
Ram: 2X Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR4 3200
GPU: MSI Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti
PSU: Antec EA750G Pro 80+ semi modular gaming
Hdd: 1 WD Blue 3D nand and 1 Samsung 1TB SSD
Cooler master case, cd rom drive blah blah.

Welcome to the forums :D
can you swap PSUs with him? a quick swip/swap would answer the question.
the PSU is likely, the 5V rail is the power source for USB.
