USB Pen Drives

Can a USB 3 pen drive be used in the present USB 2 motherboard ports??

Yes, USB3 devices are backwards compatible with USB2 ports, and vice versa.

Yes, it just won't run at USB3 speed. In a USB 2 slot it will run like a USB2 drive but for ordinary use with a pen drive the slower speed shouldn't be a huge handicap.
