Hello, I have a 2013 Mini Cooper and I keep on having a problem with my USB port. Whenever I try to listen to music on my phone using the CarPlay setting or by the USB setting it keeps on saying USB cord not supported. Ive bought several different chargers and none seem to the trick. I'm thinking it might be because I have an iPhone 6 and my car is old but I'm not sure. Should I take the car to the mechanic? What should I do? Please help I don't know anything about cars lol

Solution
Not so much a matter of knowing anything about cars as it is a matter of understanding the devices involved. I.e., what are the connectivity and configuration settings necessary to make things (iPhone6 and music player) work as intended?

Maybe some proprietary USB cable is needed. Or some firmware update.

Persus the appropriate manual for both the Mini-Cooper and its electronics. May need to find and download the applicable manuals. Probably need to delve into the fine print and related details. Or stop by your dealer - you may find a helpful salesperson who knows the ins and outs of the audio systems.

That all said, on a whim, I googled "How to connect an iPhone6 to a 2013 Mini Cooper".

Found the following link and others...

Probably a good starting point.
