Not sure if this is the correct place to ask:

I have a HDD-Dock connected via USB, when i don't use the HDD i disconnect the port from the Dock's end instead of the PC/Motherboard's end. Want to know if having the USB wire plugged in to the motherboard will it give out power/electricity on the other end which is dangling in open air and not connected to anything?

Solution
You're okay doing that, with the cable unplugged (either side) there is no circuit drawing power.
You will of course, not want to drop the loose end into any liquids - that could be bad.
