USB Ports are not working.

I just got a new headset for Christmas and I went to the USB ports on the back of my computer to plug the headset in and everything was working fine. After a little while of messing with the mic quality the back light on my keyboard turned off, then the back light of my mouse turned off and they stopped working. For some odd reason though when I went to the USB ports accessible on the front of my computer and plugged my keyboard and mouse in they worked fine. I plugged in my headset into the back of my computer again and the light on my headset (Corsair Vengeance 1500w) light turned purple meaning it was receiving power, but no information. I have been having problems with my motherboard lately and that might be the problem, I might have to get a new one.
