USB Ports dead.

Hello All.

My USB ports are dead, is there a easy way to check the voltage? on the MOBO.

Seems to power 4.7v but not 5v :-S

Mobo is a Foxconn g31mx

Do you mean both front & rear usb ports all fail to work with usb memory sticks
Keyboard, mice etc

It is rare for all to fail

I would look for a linux distribution usb stick or usb dvd drive and see if linux can recognise usb devices, indicating windows registry corruption causing your problems

To check psu voltage find a spare molex 4 pin plug
Red black is 5 v
Yellow black is 12 volt
Tolerance is 5%
4.75 v to 5.25 volts acceptable for 5 volt lines

Hello,

Yes all ports seem to be dead, ive tried the back and the front but nothing at all.

Well, I haven't turned the PC for over a month and now its all working fine.

Strange.

Anyway sorted.
