Recently my USB ports have been acying strangely. If I connect something to an empty port (front or back, 2.0 or 3.0) it randomly disconnects something connected to a different port and it takes a lot of reconnecting and restarting the PC to get it recognised again. It doesn't seem to matter which device I connect or which one gets disconnected and I can't see any problems in either event viewer or device manager. My Windows is up to date as is the USB controller/drivers etc. Has anyone got any idea where I start trying to diagnose this issue? Thanks

Have tried uninstalling the USB root hubs etc in device manager. Thing is, for a few years there hasnt been any problem with all my peripherals and this has only happened recently despite being no real changes. I have several ex HDD's attached but they are mostly powered by their own power supplies. If it was a probem from the beginning I'd be more inclined to think there was insufficient power but its still a good motherboard and I dont think its failing but I could be wrong?

I think the biggest reason is the insufficient power supply of the motherboard.
It may also be caused by improper installation of the driver and poor contact of the jack.
The best solution is to buy a USB hub, both Anker and Larnt can be plugged into a usable USB port.

How can a driver be improperly installed? Do you think I should try reinstalling it? It worked fine for a long time. I realise I can get a hub but I'd rather use my 10 or so USB ports.
