This is my first post, so please forgive any mistakes. I was installing the most recent Wireshark update and decided to update my USBpcap version as well. When I realized I hadn't uninstalled the old USBpcap I cancelled the install, uninstalled USBpcap and went to the Wireshark website to install Wireshark again.
Once the Wireshark install reached the installation of USBpcap, it did its thing but at the very end it said USBpcap failed to complete install, I didn't think anything of it finished the Wireshark installation and restarted my computer thinking I would just uninstall and reinstall everything again to fix that error. Only problem? I can no longer use my USB ports once Windows boots.
I attempted a system restore and I am getting the error my antivirus or program is blocking the restore. I tried resetting my pc and keeping my personal files. It failed. I can access Troubleshoot options from a boot disc but I am at a loss as to what I need to do to regain use of my USB ports. I want to get a new computer but until I have the money my ancient Dell Dimension E510 has been pretty reliable. Until user error of course. Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated. Not sure what other information is needed, so let me know that as well.
