Hi folks,

I dont know if this is due to a driver update or something but one day, every usb port stopped working after a reboot and I havent been able to get any power whatsoever from them.

So i got a PS/2 keyboard, so i can actually do something with it. But Windows just like bios, usb ports still wont work, even being enabled. And I cant proprelly shut down either (fan n leds carry on with code 05) I then have to hold power button 5 sec to power off. I dont know if that is connected to it.

I tried since all sort of things, uninstalling usb ports drivers, updating them, CMOS resetting, changing PSU... but still no luck

ASUS Maximus VIII Gene
Intel I7 6700K
Nvidia Quaddro M4000

download and run

it will show errors in your usb subsystem.

you might have a short, windows 10 usb drivers detects the short and will shutdown the ports.

some bios versions require custom usb drivers from the motherboard vendor.
some motherboard vendors provide a filter driver that overrides the power settings on usb so they can rapidly charge apple devices. (just don't do this)

some bios versions turn off usb ports to save power. (required by certain regulations)
make sure you don't have this power saving enabled.

I think the problem is going to be that your USB XHCI Driver is the generic one from windows
USBXHCI.SYS (Version: 10.0.17134.1 Date: 2018-04-12)
but it does not match your bios. you should install the older version that comes with your motherboard.
or check to see if there is a bios update for your motherboard that will make the generic version work ok.
I think this is part of the cpu chipset drivers. you can try the one that matches your bios from the motherboard vendor.
