USB ports not working when trying to install OS

So, I just built a new PC, and after a ton of troubleshooting, I've run into a problem with the USB ports. The PC boots up and can go into BIOS and everything works fine. However, as soon as I go through to the boot drive in order to install Windows, the USB ports deactivate or something.

To be clear, I can use my USB mouse and keyboard as soon as the PC starts, and I can get into BIOS and use them in BIOS perfectly fine. However, upon trying to go into my boot drive (USB drive) to install Windows, the USB ports stop working. I can see the initial screen for installing Windows that asks me to select my language and the like, but I can't actually do anything on that screen, because I can no longer use my mouse or keyboard. I'm assuming the USB drive also stops working. Not sure what the problem is here.

Another interesting thing to note is that when I start my PC while there are devices plugged in to the front-panel USB 3.0 ports, it doesn't do anything. There's just a dark gray screen (not black, so there is some form of input from the PC). I don't know what to do and would appreciate it if someone could help me out.

The MOBO is an MSI B350 PC Mate. The OS is Windows 7. I have the key and got the installation software onto my USB via the provided tools on Microsoft's website.

I see. Is it just the USB ports? I've been looking into workarounds and something I came across was using a PS/2 keyboard and/or mouse. The problem is, I'd rather not invest into this as a solution until I know that I could get the USB ports working after Windows is installed. Would it work that way?

Otherwise, how could I go about integrating the USB drivers into the installation? After all, the USB no longer functions as a storage drive but instead a boot drive.

Yup Win7 doesnt support USB 3 natively. Or when you install it. So if you're using a USB 3 port plug the flash drive into a USB 2 port

Also be aware that you wont get updates with Windows 7 on a Ryzen system. Unless you run this patch thats available somewhere

You can also install windows 7 from sata connected DVD drive. And you'll still need PS/2 mouse, keyboard during install process.

As to about integration of USB drivers - MSI for some reason doesn't have appropriate download for your motherboard.
But you can use download for some other motherboard with same chipset. This one from Asrock for example:
https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/AB350%20Pro4/index.us.asp#Download
{Downloads/Windows 7/ Windows 7 USB patcher)

Tried isolating everything to the USB 2.0 ports on my motherboard and ran into the same issue. However, the problem I stated at the end of my post now is clear to me why it was a problem in the first place.

I'll see if I can get it working via this method. If not, I suppose I will have to purchase a copy of Windows 10. I did plan on upgrading it to 10 once the PC was working anyhow.
