I have a standing microphone that I plug into my laptop through a USB cable. There are 3 USB ports on the left side of my laptop. Sometimes in the middle of a meeting, the person can't hear me, and I take out the USB plug from port 1 and put it in port 2 or 3, and it works fine. At other times it is already in 3 and I put it in 1 or 2, and so on.
Could the problem be with the USB ports, or with the microphone? Is there a way to test this other than buy a new microphone?
Additional information: I have an air conditioner on the adjacent wall, whose cool air comes directly at the laptop. Now I realise this can cause condensation and damage the hardware, so I am getting it relocated to the other side of the room in a few days. I wonder if this is a factor in the problem I am facing.
