USB Ports not working

I have 4 usb ports on the back of my computer.

The set-up is kinda like this:

2 usb on the top and 2 on the bottom

The bottom 2 work. but the top 2 don't. Its not the device because I tested them with my nostromo and optical mouse which both work on the bottom ports.

I have just recently reinstalled windows 7 and the ports have not worked since.

Any ideas?

Hmm. I assume, from the sentence about the re-install, that they worked before. I suggest two things to start: Open the Device Manager, look in USB devices, and look for any yellow triangles with exclamation points in them or similar symbols indicating that there is a driver issue.

What motherboard / model of PC is this? Are they USB 3.0 ports, which may require a specific driver, or plain-vanilla USB 2.0 ports?

Is it possible that you did a BIOS reset and need to re-enable the ports in BIOS?

These are the things that come to my mind, other than physical damage.

Thanks for your reply. It turns out I needed to download some computer drivers in order for it to work.
