Try another USB port, can the device communicate? If it can, you may have a faulty USB port. Try another device in it. If that also fails, a USB loopback plug can confirm whether it is faulty.
If no USB ports work, enter BIOS and check their interface status, perhaps it has been disabled as a security measure.
Thirdly, uninstall and reinstall your USB drivers.
It's also worth checking your front panel connectors are seated properly.
