Can you provide some more details on what exactly is happening?

If you have a particular USB device that you want to prevent from going to sleep:
1. Do a search for Device Manager in the Windows search bar and open it.
2. Expand the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" section. Right-click any "USB Root Hub" item and click Properties.
3. Click the Power tab.
4. Follow the aforementioned steps until you find the USB Root Hub that lists the device in question in the Power tab. When you find it, click the Power Management tab and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
5. Click OK

If you want to turn off this power saving option for all USB Root Hubs:
1. Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
2. Click the "Change plan settings" link next to the currently selected power plan.
3. Click "Change advanced power settings"
4. Expand "USB settings" and "USB selective suspend setting" within it. Click "Enabled" and set it to "Disabled"
5. Click Apply and OK.
