I've connected up an LED strip to a DC power supply and it's working fine. Now, I want to be able to power it from the back of my TV USB port instead.

The port says it's 5v and suitable for a HDD, so I'm assuming it has enough power for a short LED strip.

I don't really know what I'm doing but I stripped two USB cables and tested them both instead of the DC power adapter, however neither of them work.

Any ideas why or what I need to do?

I can't see the pics....don't have account.

Regardless...

The red and black wire are the wires you use to get 5 volts. Red is positive.

If you are doing this and they still don't light....I'm think that most likely the strip draws too much current for the port.
