I plan to get 4 8GB USB drives soon and I want to be able to run them in RAID, preferably RAID 0 or RAID 5. I will need a RAID controller for USB drives and it will need to connect the 4 USB drives to one USB port. If I cannot get a RAID controller for USB drives then I guess a USB hub would work but it has to be a good size.

I took apart a desktop hard drive (removed the actuator arm, magnets, platters, and everything so the inside is empty). I want to use this as an enclosure for my USB RAID controller or USB hub.

Does a RAID controller like this exist?

I know it sounds ridiculous but I still want to do it. Would it be possible to plug the USB drives into a PCIe x1 USB expansion and use a PCIe x1 to USB adapter to plug that into a computer?

Never tried it sounds possible though
