Question USB to PC data transfer issue.

system specs-
12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700F 2.10 GHz
16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows 11 Home version 22H2 os 22621.2134

usb type-
scandisk ultra 3.0 128 gb

I bought a new pc and am attempting to transfer files from a usb stick to the new pc, however, it will only transfer folders with 16.4 gb or less. On larger folders it will only transfer about 16.4 gb and then the file transfer screen shuts down and the usb asks for my password again, and I get this error msg. ( There is insufficient disk space to complete operation)

I have two usb sticks of the same type that are giving me this arror. On my last pc I used these same sticks without any issues. Also on the new pc I used a scandisk Cruzer 128gb without any issues on larger folders. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No none at all.

Try "recovering" the large folders with DMDE:

https://dmde.com/

Select your physical drive, d-click the appropriate volume in the Partitions tab and expand the $Root. Then navigate to your target folder, r-click and Recover to another drive.

This procedure may help to narrow down the problem.

Fzabkar thanks for your response, I'm afraid your directives are beyond my skill level. I was able to download DMDE and messed with it a bit but I have no idea what i'm doing.

I discovered my issue my new HD is way to small then what I have been using, and now I feel stupid.
