I have one and not just a normal cable with two male, but the bundled software doesn't work with windows 10 and just keeps crashing. Using compatibility mode doesn't change anything. Is there a trustworthy free software that can utilize it?

The reason why I'm not using ethernet/network is because I'm not the only one on the network.

What product and software are you using? I also hope it didn't cost you too much, since even a USB thumb drive of like 32GB is better than using something like this in the end.

I suppose OP' got one of these over-priced, over-hyped "Transfer your stuff across computers" cable, consisting of two USB A (male) connectors with a blob in the middle, and piece of software which would make "transferring your stuff when switching computers a snap". And as OP discovered, this software does not work properly, each and every time.

@BadNight - check with manufacturer for updated version. But there're better ways to migrate your old PC to the new one. And no software or cable method will transfer your installed programs like Office, games, QuickBooks etc.
