Hey guys im having a problem with my Sandisk ultra. when i plugin the pen drive it is being recognized but it says there is no media and 0 bytes. This is how it looks on my computer http://imgur.com/0zPmV6F,5H39AFj . i have tried various different things like update drivers, reinstall drivers, auotorun exterminator and changing the driver letter. I have no idea what to do without formatting as i need the file on here. http://imgur.com/0zPmV6F,5H39AFj#1 this is what it looks like in the disk managment.

Thanks

Your MFT is likely corrupted. You should give this or any other file recovery software a try. If the data was never written over, it should still be there. This is from CNet. I generally have no problems with them. It is freeware and their editor seems to think it works quite well. After you get your files, re-format and you should be good, but I would test the stick a bit with non-important data and run the error checking from Properties>Tools>Error Checking to allow the system to identify bad sectors ( or whatever sectors are called on a USB stick! ). Good luck!

Don't throw away your suspected corrupt USB drive, it might be recoverable. I have a 4GB Verbatim with symptoms showing no media and 0 byte! I tried everything in Windows 7, run diskpart, disk management in computer, but Windows would not recognize drive. This is how I fixed my corrupt USB drive, by using GParted.

Any Linux distro with GParted app installed will work, but insert your corrupt USB drive first on bootup. In Linux, I started Gparted, but no USB drives appeared in list with other partitions. So, select on top menu, GParted/devices and select dev/sdb. A popup notice will say the USB drive needs to be unmounted, say "yes" then select partition/format fat32, then apply. Fixed my corrupt USB, with no media and registered total USB capacity. To double check, I went back into Windows 7 to confirm, all good.
