Hi guys, new builder and new to the forum.

I figured that some GPU has the USB type C port on them for VR and others don't. Can i still get a VR set without that port ? What is the advantage of having that port ?

One connector for everything vs having to use USB + HDMI or DP.

Not that big a deal, but type-C cable is going to be lighter.
It was designed to lower your number of cables to 1. It was termed virtual link.

Valve was supposed to support it with the valve index. But they canceled the project. So there is no real support available yet from any vr vendor.

Type-C with DP should still eliminate the need for a separate display and power cable. Whether the headset offers that is another matter entirely. But USB and power alone would still be worth it.

If I recall correctly, didn't the Oculus dev kit use like two type A and DP, and possibly power?
