I have had the AC3200 for many years but I have just started today to use the USB port for a network drive. I copied a 15 gigabyte folder to the drive and find that most of the subfolders are empty? Is this normal? How long should it take to make all of the files available.

I have also noticed that I can read files but not write. To do the copy I hooked the drive directly to the machine then moved it to the USB 3.0 port on the front of the Router. I find very little in the manual on this feature.

you will see a notification window showing the file transfer with it's completion %, how much time it should take, and how many files are being copied while it is happening.

depending on the speeds of both drives, network, and the USB capabilities 15GB should take a couple minutes at the very most.

unless the folders were empty when you copied them than no it is not normal.
